Stephen Mackey is an American composer who composes not only classical and contemporary music, but also plays electric guitar himself, and is influenced by rock, jazz, and many other types of music. He has also won an American Grammy Award. The work on the album is a dramatic reading in three acts written for two narrators against the backdrop of a string quartet and percussion ensemble (duo). The text of the reading is Stephen Mackie's own, so to speak, autobiographical story. Inspired by the orchestration of Stravinsky's "A Soldier's Tale," this is a unique work with an eclectic mix of styles. (Tobu Shoji)
