The Blasters, a rockabilly/roots rockin' band formed in 1978 by brothers Dave and Phil Alvin, emerged on the LA punk scene in the 1980s and are known as the Stray Cats of the East and the Blasters of the West. However, their sound is not only neo-rockabilly, but also timeless American roots rock, blending early rock and roll, rockabilly, punk rock, mountain music, rhythm and blues, and country. This is the band's first live overseas tour, which took place in May 1982 at the Venues in London, England. Six of the songs were released on a 12" EP on Slash Records later that year, and four more were unearthed and included in Rhino's 1997 anthology "Testament. Thirteen more songs have now been unearthed and the concert is being released in its entirety. The Shakin' Stevens version of "Marie Marie" hit the UK charts, and the band was gaining momentum in London.
