A New Release by Alberto Ginobart, a Pianist Active in Spain This is a new recording by Alberto Ginobart, who is currently regarded as one of Spain’s most talented pianists and composers as of 2018. Born in Barcelona in 1962, Alberto Ginobart studied piano and composition at the Barcelona Municipal Conservatory and in London. As a pianist, he is highly regarded for his interpretations of Romantic repertoire as well as works by Turina, Granados, Albeniz, and has also served as an accompanist for artists such as María Bayo and Flores. As a composer, he has written numerous works ranging from classical pieces to film scores and musicals, including *The Sea and the Sky*, written in Catalan, and the official music for the 2003 and 2013 World Aquatics Championships. He is also known as a specialist in the works of Granados and enjoys overwhelming popularity for his piano performances, ranging from classical repertoire to his own compositions. The “Nocturne” on this album builds upon the romantic spirit of Chopin’s famous “Nocturnes,” while allowing for greater creative freedom. Its musical concept creates a unique sensation, blending impressionistic sounds reminiscent of Ravel with simple folk melodies.
