Juicy J, a pioneer of the Southern hip-hop scene, releases his fifth solo album! Hailing from Memphis, Tennessee, Juicy J—now 42—is one of the legendary rappers of the Southern hip-hop scene. He is also known as an original member of Three 6 Mafia, a historic veteran group formed in 1991 whose song “It’s Hard Out Here for a Pimp”—the theme song for the 2005 film *Hustle & Flow*—became the first track by a hip-hop artist to win an Academy Award. Dubbed the “N.W.A. of the South” for their explicit lyrics and aggressive sound, he boasts a career spanning more than 20 years since the formation of Three 6 Mafia. To date, he has released four solo albums and recorded total album sales of over 25 million copies. This album, his fifth solo release, is scheduled to include numerous singles released since 2016, such as “Ballin’” (featuring Kanye West, which generated significant buzz upon its 2016 release), “No English” with Travis Scott, the booty-shaking track “Gimme Gimme,” which fully showcases Juicy J’s signature style, and “Ain’t Nothing,” featuring labelmate Wiz Khalifa and singer Ty Dolla$ign—all of which were released in 2016. As this is the latest release from Juicy J, who has consistently been at the forefront of the scene as a “pioneer of Southern hip-hop,” anticipation for the album is running high.
