Description:
This is the second album for Sony Classical by Swiss violinist Sebastian Bowen, born in 1987, following the 2014 release of Ignatz Pleyel's Violin Concerto. This time it is Beethoven's Violin Concerto and Schumann's Fantasy, performed with the young international music group CHAARTS, which was founded in Zurich in 2010. The recording was edited from four live performances given to an invited audience at Musikinsel Rheinau near the ancient Swiss city of Schaffhausen. Bowen's solo performance is distinctly different from the "novelty" and "passion" of recent up-and-coming artists, and the beauty of each note pronounced while maintaining a secure tone pattern is a new interpretation emanating from harmonic analysis. CHAARTS is a modern instrument chamber orchestra without a conductor, formed by members of the prestigious Zurich Tonhalle Orchestra, the Basel Symphony Orchestra, the Swiss Romance Orchestra, and others. The orchestra's performance of Beethoven's "Hero" Symphonies, which actively incorporates period techniques, brings out a fresh and new sound from these two pieces.Francais' "Notturna" is an encore arrangement of Mozart's original piece, in which the piano part is replaced by a string quintet, while the wind instrument part remains the same.
