From the prestigious label 〈Young〉—home to artists such as Sampha, The xx, FKAtwigs, and Kamasi Washington—the highly anticipated rising star band 1000Rabbits has released their debut EP, *Arewefriendsyet?*. Featuring a total of six tracks, this EP documents the band’s journey over the two years since their formation, vividly capturing the band as they shape their identity in real time. 1000Rabbits (formerly Rabbitfoot) is a five-piece band consisting of Laura (violin), Liv (synth), Paolo (guitar), River (vocals), and Luke (drums). Active primarily in London’s independent scene, they have become known as a “monster local band” at The Windmill, a legendary venue in Brixton. Built on a foundation of playful bass synths, expressive vocals weave their way through a vibrant soundscape created by violin, guitar, and drums. Their music is immediate and immersive—rhythm-driven, emotional, and impossible to resist moving to. This album, *Arewefriendsyet?*, is composed of songs written over the course of two years in various locations, including living rooms, rehearsal spaces, and live venues. From early recordings to their latest tracks, the combination of these elements creates an album that vividly presents the band’s unique worldview. Every song has been shaped through live performances, continuously evolving and taking form. The EP’s title—“Arewefriendsyet?”—is taken from a phrase River calls out to the audience toward the end of their live shows. Uttered every time during the album’s closing track, “SpringCleaning,” this question symbolizes both the band’s warmth and fragility. The newly released music video for “Bear Hunt,” directed by South London artist CheDeedigan, captures the energy of 1000Rabbits as they constantly move, change, and continue their exploration.
