Description:
Cameron Carpenter, a revolutionary of the organ, makes his debut on Sony Classical! The Los Angeles Times has called him "a musician who has changed the perception of the organ...a man who has shattered the taboo of classical music" (The Los Angeles Times). Born in Pennsylvania in 1981, Carpenter is now 34 years old, but his unprecedented playing and way of life, which shatters all existing images of classical organ music and organists, has generated overwhelming enthusiasm and praise as well as criticism and rejection everywhere, and has achieved such a presence that no one can ignore him. His first visit to Japan in February 2013 and a recital at Suntory Hall was broadcast on TV and became a big topic of conversation. His performance repertoire is also unconventional: not only can he play the complete organ works of Bach and Franck, his staples as an organist, to perfection, but also hundreds of his own arrangements for organ performance, his own compositions published exclusively by the historic German label Peters, and even his own works with jazz and pop musicians. In 2014, Carpenter released a new mobile digital organ, which he has been developing with the American organ company Marshall & Ogletree, and which has been a long time concept of his. In 2014, Carpenter completed the "Touring Organ," a mobile digital organ that he has long envisioned and developed with the American organ company Marshall & Ogletree, which will be unveiled at Lincoln Center in New York City on March 9, 2014. It is a completely new organ that can incorporate and reproduce the tones of various musical instruments from around the world. This album, Carpenter's debut on Sony Classical, features a collection of Carpenter's own works, from Bach to Bernstein, pop music from the 60s and 70s, and even his own compositions, all of which Carpenter is very particular about. Not only the original organ pieces by Bach and Dupré, but also arrangements of Bernstein's "Candide" Overture, which is always featured at the beginning of Carpenter's concerts, Scriabin's Piano Sonata No. 4, and other works far removed from the organ's image are included, which is truly This is a unique feature of Cameron Carpenter's work. It is also noteworthy that this is the first recording of this work on the "touring organ," which is his pride and joy.The revolutionary performance, which makes full use of the organ's functions while breaking the conventional notion of the organ as an instrument, is truly a must-listen for all music fans!
