The album was produced by David Gilmour, Phil Manzanera (Roxy Music), Youth (Killing Joke, The Fireman with Paul McCartney), and Andy Jackson (recording engineer for recent Pink Floyd albums), It is a tribute to Rick Wright, say the two remaining members.David Gilmour: "The beginning of THE ENDLESS RIVER goes back to the songs that came out of the 1994 TSUI sessions, where we listened to over 20 hours worth of the three of us playing together, and we vetted and selected songs to work on for the new album. Over the last year, we added new parts, recorded new material, and took advantage of studio technology to create a 21st century Pink Floyd album. Now that Rick is gone and we will never be able to do the sessions again, it feels right to make it part of our repertoire. I think the album is a good way to identify what he was doing at the heart of the Pink Floyd sound and a lot of his playing. Listening back to the sessions, I realized what a special player he was." "TOWA" is divided into "four themes.The songs are mainly fantastic instrumental pieces that are unique to Pink Floyd, and Polly Samson (who wrote most of the lyrics on "TSUI") has added new lyrics to the song "LOUDER THAN WORDS".
