George Ezra's song "Budapest" is slowly climbing the charts not only in his native UK, but also in Hungary, the Netherlands, Italy, and other European countries. George Ezra is a 20-year-old singer/songwriter from the UK who performed at Glastonbury last year and was featured in the "BBC Sound of 2014," which selects artists who have made their mark on the world. He says that his family trips to the UK playing his father's favorite Paul Simon, Bob Dylan, and Billy Bragg, and his mother's favorite UK Northern Soul were his family's original inspiration. A very ordinary boy whose first concert was at S Club 7, he began to write songs influenced by these influences (he says he used to shout in a band) and began to play lyrically with a smoky, blues-tinged voice. The fact that he went to college in Bristol from the suburbs of London, where he grew up, was also a major influence on his music (he left school to pursue his musical career), and the beautiful coastal and rural scenery can be glimpsed in the music he spins. He says, "The scenery of my travels is the driving force behind my music," and his debut album, as the title suggests, is a fresh album full of quiet moments found in wanderings, and a sense of exuberance filled with discoveries.Recommended for those who like Hunter Hayes, Newton Faulkner, and others.
