Hen Ogre's third album, which absorbs a diverse range of elements—from free jazz to field recordings, children's voices, and spoken word—and transforms them through his unique pop sensibility Led by Newcastle-born singer-songwriter Richard Dawson, HenOgledd—a four-piece band featuring Dawn Boswell, Rodri Davis, and Sally Pilkington, all of whom serve as lead singers and percussionists—has released their third album, *DISCOMBOBULATED*! This album marks a major leap forward in their evolution. The first sessions for this record took place in early 2024, and the production process involved a host of collaborators. You can hear the voices of friends and the band members’ children, field recordings of horses and insects, and the supple drumming of guest musician Will Guthrie, as well as spoken word contributions from Matana Roberts, Trully Kapat, C. Spencer Ye, and Circle member Janne Westerlund. Additionally, Fay MacCalman contributes on saxophone, Nate Woolley on trumpet, and Elliw, the daughter of Rodri Davis, on flute.
