James Ellis Ford—who has garnered significant attention in recent years for his production work on Arctic Monkeys, Blur, Depeche Mode, and WarChild’s “Help (2)”—has completed his second album A blend of ambient and experimental pop centered around tape loops and synths Introspective electronic pop born in a hospital room James Ellis Ford—known for his production work on projects by the Arctic Monkeys, Blur, Depeche Mode, and WarChild’s “Help (2),” as well as his work as a member of Simian Mobile Disco—has released his second album, *LostInAnotherWorld*, via Domino! *LostInAnotherWorld* was created in early 2025 over the course of just over two weeks, while James was in a hospital ward between rounds of grueling chemotherapy after being diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia (AML), an aggressive form of cancer affecting white blood cells. At that point, he hadn’t yet fully grasped the gravity of his diagnosis—with a survival rate of just 30% after nine months of treatment—and was subsequently admitted to Barts Hospital in London. During his second round of treatment, James did the only thing that felt natural to him: he wrote a solo album about this experience. He played, sang, recorded, and even mixed the tracks himself. Using a laptop with virtual studio software and an inexpensive microphone, he began sketching out musical ideas. Soon after, his wife, Celine, bought him a foldable IKEA bedside table and a synthesizer, and those sketches quickly evolved into full-fledged songs.
