Master pianist Emanuel Ax's first solo album explores the essence of classical and romantic variation music. Emanuel Ax, one of the world's most talented pianists, has been working on a wide range of repertoire since the 1970s, recording first for RCA and then for Sony Classical, The three works on this album are his first recordings. The Haydn work is a double variation consisting of a melancholy F minor first theme and a lovely F major second theme, and is distinguished by its beautiful sound and lyrical expression.
