Commemorating the 200th anniversary of Schumann's birth! Sakari Oramo is a conductor of the new century from Finland, and is regarded as the successor of the Berlin Philharmonic's chef, Simon Rattle. Oramo, who has visited Japan several times and is currently active in various parts of the world with not only his native Scandinavian works but also authentic German repertoire, has recorded all four of Schumann's symphonies for Sony Classical, which, like Chopin, will celebrate the 200th anniversary of his birth in 2010. The orchestra is the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra, a prestigious Scandinavian orchestra for which he has served as artistic advisor since the 2008/9 season. The upcoming tour in Japan with this duo is sure to draw a lot of attention. ---.
