Katharina Conradi, a popular soprano with a clear and beautiful voice, has recorded a Schubert album. Conradi's live CD of her winning the 2016 German Music Competition, in which she performed the stunning "Night and Dreams," is still fresh in our minds, but this time the "Night and Dreams" is placed at the end, and the entire selection is night-inspired. Although the theme is insomnia, the languid beauty of the music is still attractive, and "Night and Dreams" and "Serenade" with the guitar are nothing short of magnificent. Amiel Bouchakevitz, an experienced songwriter and accomplished guitarist, plays guitar on seven of the 18 pieces here. [About the piece] "Insomnia is persistent or repeated insomnia. When we are sleepy or awake throughout the night, we think of many things, but in the hours of darkness or twilight, they can seem confusing, larger, and very existential. The same is true of the songs we have chosen. These pieces examine emotions and issues of love, death, hate, and longing through the magnifying glass of our nocturnal sensibility.A world is created in which we no longer know what is true and what is not.
