Ragnheir Hemsing, who showcased the charm of the violin and the Hardanger fiddle in *Peer Gynt*, has recorded Bruch’s Violin Concerto No. 1 and Tveit’s Hardanger Fiddle Concerto No. 2, among other works. Both pieces are among her signature works, having received high praise in live performances across the country. She is joined by the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by her longtime collaborator, Irvin Odland. [A Recording by a Renowned Producer] Production, mixing, and mastering are handled by Marion Schwebel, the German producer who has upheld the BIS label’s high sound quality for a quarter-century. She was also involved in the recording of Dvořák’s Violin Concerto that her sister, Elbjørg Hemming, made for BIS in 2016. Given her track record of producing a string of excellent recordings that preserve harmonics, expectations are high. Born in 1988 in Audal, in the North Audal district of the Valdres region in the mountains of southern Norway. His mother, Bente, graduated from the Estrand Music Academy and went on to study ethnomusicology at the University of Oslo and folk culture studies at the University of Tromsø; she has performed with the Stavanger Symphony Orchestra and the Oslo Baroque Orchestra. As a folk musician who plays the Hardanger fiddle, she also serves as the leader of the Valdres Folk Music Ensemble. Her mother and father, Endre, met in the folk music community. Her sister, Elbjørg, is a violinist, and her brother, Andris, is a violinist and Hardanger fiddle player. Her husband, Halgrímur Hanségø, is a dancer and choreographer. Born in Bergen in 1956, he is a renowned Norwegian conductor who has guest-conducted orchestras around the world. He is also a passionate advocate for Norwegian music and has recorded numerous works by composers such as Ilgens Jensen, Bør, Groven, Johansen, and Nordheim. He is also dedicated to educational projects for young conductors, as well as the Iceland Symphony Orchestra Youth Orchestra and the youth orchestras in Oslo and Bergen. His CDs have been released on labels such as Berlin Classics, BIS, Simax, Aurora, Audite, CPO, Orfeo, ASV, Helios, Hallmark, and IMP. One of the world’s oldest orchestras, its history dates back to 1765, and it celebrated its 250th anniversary in 2015. Edvard Grieg served as its artistic director from 1880 to 1882.
