Biber's "Evening Prayer of the Blessed Virgin Mary," choreographed by the famous English choral conductor Heinrich Ignaz Franz von Biber (1644-1704) was a leading violinist and composer of the 17th century. He was famous for his instrumental works, mainly for violin, and his innovative works using scordatura (irregular tuning) and polyphony stand out, but many of his religious vocal works are filled with solemn beauty. This album couples the "Evening Prayer of the Virgin Mary," composed in 1693, with two sonatas. Conductor Howard Arman was born in England and is based in Germany. He has conducted choirs for some of the world's most renowned broadcasters, including the North German Radio Choir, the Southwest German Radio Choir, and the RIAS Choir Berlin.
