Jordi Savall, master of the viola da gamba! This is a collection of early chamber works by Andreas Hammerschmidt, a mid-Baroque composer and organist born in Bohemia and active in Germany. The two suites, with viola da gamba as the main instrument, are combined with wind and orchestral ensembles. Jordi Savard, a renowned viola da gamba player from Barcelona, and Esperion XX (now renamed Esperion XXI), an ancient instrument ensemble founded by Savard in Basel, Switzerland, in 1974, a leading figure in the ancient music world and its hand-picked musicians who received high praise during their 2018 tour of Japan. The ensemble will perform Hammerschmidt's works, which have been re-evaluated in Germany in recent years, with expert technique. Tokyo M-Plus
