Portico Quartet

Description:

East London jazz/electronic band Portico Quartet's self-titled third album, originally released in 2012, is being reissued to celebrate the 10th anniversary of its release! Newly remastered and featuring new artwork by the band's Duncan Bellamy, the CD digipak includes a 12-page photo booklet and foil-stamped O-card. The album draws inspiration from electronica, ambient, classical, and dance music, and the band has combined its beautifully cinematic future music with the inspiration of Burial, Mount Kimbie, Flying Lotus, and Arve Henriksen, and Bon Iver textures, mixed with echoes of Steve Reich and Max Richter to lead us into an exciting new world. All tracks are underpinned by the shared joy of making music collectively, as the band pushes their music into the future.Produced by the band itself and wonderfully engineered by Greg Freeman at Fish Market Studios and Real World, Portico Quartet's third album is the sound of a band that refuses to stand still. Full of mystery and drama, Portico Quartet still takes the listener on an unparalleled journey, but whereas their last album, Isla, was the sound of a band looking inward, you will find a band defiantly looking to the future. Throughout their six studio albums to date, Portico Quartet has defied categorization, from their 2007 Mercury Music Prize-nominated breakthrough "Knee-Deep in the North Sea," to the minimalist-inspired feature-length "Terrain," to the electronic-inspired "The Last of Us" and "The Last of Us. Terrain, to the electronics-driven recent album Monument. The band's precisely sculpted ideas combine a human touch with electronic efficiency to deliver critically acclaimed widescreen minimalism that is still a band to watch.
