The long-awaited release! One of the few legendary live recordings of the Kempe-Dresden Cooperative Orchestra: the March 15, 1974, performance at the Kulturpalast. Featuring a complete stereo reproduction with violins arranged on both sides! A comprehensive booklet featuring 40 items, including rare photos of Kempe (such as one of him maintaining his oboe)! Professor Kenshi Kaneko, a music critic who once heard a recording of this performance, praised it highly, stating, “This live recording of *The Life of a Hero* completely dispels the preconception that Kempe is ‘a reliable performer, but rather a subdued, orthodox musician.’” While the renowned 1972 EMI recording featured the standard violin placement, the key feature of this release is the dual-violin, left-and-right-flank configuration. “At the final climax of ‘The Battle,’ the ‘Hero’s Theme’ is sung triumphantly as both violins spread wide across the left and right channels, filling the entire soundstage. The sense of exhilaration and elation this creates evokes a unique emotion not found in studio recordings, conjuring the image of victory flags fluttering across the entire battlefield.” As Professor Kaneko previously noted, this is a truly satisfying set packed with highlights!
