Wandt and the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra The First Release in the Official Recording Project! ・Mozart: Complete Hafner Serenade, K. 250 ・Mozart: “Schöne, leb wohl” from *Schöne* and the aria “Halt, du schöne” Edith Wiens (Soprano) Günter Wand (Conductor), Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra Recorded May 21, 1982, at the Herkuleshalle in Munich The long-awaited recording by Wandt fans featuring the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra has finally arrived. The first release features the “Haffner Serenade,” one of Wandt’s most beloved works. Unlike the studio version used as background music, for some reason the live performance includes the repeat sections. It’s strange how, when you hear this piece performed by Wandt, it seems even more magnificent than the “Jupiter” or Symphony No. 40. The orchestra’s character—a stark contrast to that of the North German Radio Symphony Orchestra—truly comes to life here, with beautiful violins, a soft yet rich lower register, and full-bodied woodwinds, allowing you to fully savor the charm typical of a South German orchestra. The sound quality is also superb, and it’s a real pleasure to hear Vant’s clear sound—every nuance comes through without any muddiness. The second release is scheduled to feature Slatvinsky’s *The Firebird* (1945 version) and Prokofiev.
