Haydn'S World Vol.1

Description:

The Heidelberg Symphony Orchestra, having mastered the essence of the Vienna Classical period with its complete Haydn recordings, launches a new project! Enjoy rare works performed superbly. The acclaimed series "Haydn's World" unravels Haydn's connections with his contemporaries. The Heidelberg Symphony Orchestra specializes in the music of the Vienna Classical period. Its complete recording of Haydn's symphonies received particularly high acclaim, marking a significant milestone for the orchestra. Simultaneously, they have dedicated themselves to "unearthing forgotten masterpieces." Now, drawing heavily on their accumulated experience, they launch an exciting new project: "The World of Haydn." This series focuses on Haydn's connections with contemporary musicians, particularly highlighting the significance of his time in England, and explores diverse genres including symphonies, concertos, and operas. Additionally, the Bohemian composer Adalbert Girowetz emerges as a key figure. Girovetz, active in Italy, France, and England, was a close friend of Mozart, studied under Paisiello, and held Haydn in high esteem. He possessed tremendous musical talent and achieved great success. His story is rich with anecdotes, such as his symphonies being published and circulated under Haydn's name without permission. The Concerto-Symphony included on this CD is a work featuring five solo instruments. It is a delightfully crafted piece, masterfully handling the instruments and a pleasure to the ear. Pajello's opera "Pillo" and Haydn's opera "The Philosopher's Soul" were both scheduled for London performances in 1790. "The Philosopher's Soul" remained unfinished and missed its chance for staging, but this CD includes the overtures for both. The "Pillo" overture, featuring brilliant flute passages, is recorded here for the first time. HAENSSLER
