Héloïse Béla Kohn records Massenet and Ravel Piano ConcertosHelming from the Hensler label, pianist Héloïse Béla Kohn has recorded the piano concertos by Massenet and Ravel. She began piano lessons at the age of four at the Yamaha Music School. She then studied at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Musique et de Danse in Paris with Michel Beloff, Eric Le Sage, Denis Pascal, David Frey, and Pierre-Laurent Emard. On the 100th anniversary of Debussy's death, he released Preludes Vol. 1 & 2 (HC-18085), followed by J.S. Bach's "Technique de fugue" BWV1080 [Eskeche complements] (HC-21049). Massenet is known for his operas such as "Thais" and "Manon," and although the piano concerto composed in 1903 is rarely performed, its beauty is well worth a listen. Korn will lovingly perform Ravel's Piano Concerto in G major, one of Ravel's masterpieces, written in Paris in the first half of the 20th century, about 30 years after Massenet's work.
