The Hensler label of Germany has released a complete recording of the works of Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach (1714-1788). This box is the 68-CD "2025 Complete Edition" of the 60-CD "C.P.E. Bach Edition - Sinfonias, Concertos, Sonatas, Chamber Music (Complete Edition)" previously released on the same label, with 8 new discs added. Emanuel, the second adult son of his father, Johann Sebastian, and his first wife, Maria Barbara, was the most famous and prolific musician of the Bach family, as well as an extremely influential figure in Berlin and Hamburg. A respected clavier player and theorist, he is considered a representative of the North German "polysensorial style. Emanuel's most famous works are solo keyboard pieces.These solo keyboard works, which appear throughout, show a similar but different character, with Emanuel's unique style of abrupt remote modulations, unexpected departures from fluid expression reminiscent of the written form, melodic forms that resemble emotional spoken inflections, and rigorous strong-weak method directives. Here we have a masterful performance by Ana-Marija Markovina. This newly bound box also includes the world premiere recording of the "Mark Passion" from CBS SONY, based on a score discovered in the underground archives of the University of Cologne in 1985, and the "Matthew Passion" conducted by Bellinger and the Deutsche Kammerwirtuosen Berlin.
