Description:
Veteran viola player Tatyana Mazurenko, whose viola celebrates the passion of Russia, has released three well-received albums of Russian viola music titled "White Nights" on the Profil label. This is another Russian work, but this time with a quartet of the domra, a Russian folk instrument, accordion, and double bass. The domra is a mandolin-like instrument with a tone that evokes Russian sentiment. The only original work for viola is Glazunov's "Elegy". This is also accompanied by accordion, and the rest are arrangements of masterpieces by the quintet, but the viola and folk ensemble's renditions of Mussorgsky's "Pictures at an Exhibition" and Borodin's "Dance of the Polovets" are of great interest. The Russian coloring is heightened, and a world that will surely catch your attention.
