Stabat Mater, one of the chants of the Catholic Church with its origins in the 13th century Franciscan order, is also known as "Our Lady of Sorrows. It is popularly known as "Our Lady of Sorrows," which means "Our Lady, who is sunk in sorrow, prays. In the Roman liturgy, it is used for both soprano and anthem, and there have been many works based on this poem in the history of classical music. This 4-CD set includes works by Dvořák, Penderecki, Schubert, Vivaldi, and Pergolesi. It is a pleasure to hear the different personalities of the composers as well as the high standard of performance in each recording. King International
