Master Pianist Opitz's long-awaited new recording is a collection of Schumann's early piano masterpieces! Gerhard Opitz is a German orthodox pianist. His recordings of piano sonatas by Beethoven and Schubert are highly regarded as the definitive masterpieces of this century, and this album features piano works composed by Schumann in his late 20s. Although Opitz frequently performs Schumann in concert, this session recording has been eagerly awaited. This is a new recording with a full house! The main part of the album is a collection of 18 dances from the League of David. The Davidian League is a fictional alliance in which Schumann, a self-proclaimed fighter of the Romantic movement, expresses himself against the snobbishness of the time, inspired by the story of David fighting against the Philistines, and was dedicated to Goethe's grandson, W.v. Goethe. In addition to the piano sonata No. 3 and "Fantastic Scenes," a clown show from the Vienna Carnival, the collection includes ambitious piano works from Schumann's late twenties, when he began writing many works as "Schumann the Composer.
