A gem that even Zabine Meyer recognizes. Clarinetist Shirley Brill finally recorded Brahms! Brill's arrangement of Janacek is also noteworthy! Shirley Brill, a clarinetist who is recognized by Zabine Meyer, has recorded two of Brahms' masterpieces, the Clarinet Sonatas and Brill's arrangement of Janacek's Violin Sonata. Brill was born in Israel in 1982. He studied with Zabine Meyer at the Lübeck Conservatory and with Richard Stoltzman at the New England Conservatory in Boston, and was awarded the highest prize at the Geneva International Competition in 2007. She has performed as a soloist with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, the Hamburg Symphony Orchestra, and the Berlin Symphony Orchestra. As the duo Brillanelle (named after Brill and Annell), which she formed with pianist Yonatan Annell in 1999, she has performed in Berlin, Zurich, New York, and other cities around the world. They have performed works for clarinet and piano, both famous and unknown. He also performs a wide repertoire with his own arrangements to explore the possibilities of the clarinet.Brill's performance of Brahms is so mature that it is hard to believe that he is in his mid-30s, as he combines technique and rich musical expression that are not the work of a human being. He sings beautiful melodies and plays with a deep tone. The coupling Janacek is also noteworthy. The first movement has an intensely impressive solo at the beginning. It is Janacek's masterpiece that shows extremely folkloric colors and intense emotional expression everywhere. The modulations and modulations are not a problem, and Brill's ability to express himself in this piece makes you aware of a new charm.
