Schumann Concerto with Master Opitz and Mozart No. 40 in G minor at the height of the Wand mastering by Holger Ziedler, who is highly acclaimed for his new mastering of Richter's Schumann by Master Opitz! This is a live recording of the concerto made in 1983, when Opitz was 30 years old. Already a master, Opitz's performance is in the vein of the German orthodoxy represented by his teacher Wilhelm Kemp, and he expresses Schumann's romantic world with unfailing technique. He is also an excellent match for Vant. This will be one of Opitz's representative recordings of the 1980s. Symphony No. 40 is a different performance from the BMG (1994). This is a haunting performance that is the very embodiment of "galloping sadness". Vandt has performed many of the No. 40 symphonies, but this is the best performance in terms of clarity of sound, lack of looseness, and dignity.The excessively rich reverberation of the Musikhalle in both Schumann's 1983 and Mozart's 1990 recordings has been moderately suppressed, as is typical of broadcast recordings, and the sound is clear and appealing. The clear sound is also a must for the listener. The careful mastering by Mr. Ziedler, who has been gaining recognition in recent years for his remastering of Richter's works, is also a must for the listener. King International
