The concerts were dedicated to the victims of the floods that hit Dresden in the summer of 2002, when the Semperoper was flooded and unusable, and were held at the Dresden Palace of Culture. The concert was dedicated to the victims. The 73-year-old Haitink's maturity and exuberance at the time were ideally balanced in this divine performance. Weber and Brahms were previously released on the Querstand label, but this is the first time Frank Peter Zimmermann's Beethoven Violin Concerto has appeared.
