KMRU, a Kenyan-born, Berlin-based electronic/sound artist who is one of the hottest names in the world today, announces his second release "KIN" on EDITIONS MEGO, following his masterpiece "PEEL" released in 2020! The project began with a discussion with the late Peter Rehberg about what the sequel to "PEEL" would sound like, and production began in Nairobi, Kenya in early 2021. The work pursued a noisier approach, with a "distortion" theme reminiscent of the sounds he played on the guitar in his youth. Production was suspended for about a year immediately after Peter's death, but gradually resumed in 2022. BLURRED," which features FENNESZ, a major figure in MEGO with whom Peter toured in the U.S. that same year, is at the forefront of contemporary electronic music in the lineage of MEGO/EDITIONS MEGO.The long-awaited new album, including "WE ARE," which is reminiscent of APHEX TWIN, shows KMRU's evolution as an artist.
