The 2016 European Concert Norway's up-and-coming violinist Vilde Flang at the beautiful Lerøs Church in Norway! The Berliner Philharmoniker's annual European Concert is held on May 1, the anniversary of the Berlin Philharmonic's founding. The concert is held in halls and historical buildings throughout Europe and features a more authentic program than the summer open-air concert, the Waldbuehne. The concerts, held in beautiful buildings and cities, are an annual Berliner Philharmoniker event favored by many music fans. 2016 is the mining town of Lerøs in Norway, a World Heritage Site in 1980, a small town of less than 4,000 inhabitants with a history of copper mining. About 80 traditional wooden buildings built in the 17th and 18th centuries have been preserved, giving the town a medieval atmosphere. The Lerøs Church, where the concert was held, is a church with traditional Norwegian decorations and is a symbol of the city. The first half of the concert featured small pieces by Grieg, one of Norway's most famous composers, and the soloist was Norwegian-born Vilde Flang. They performed Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto.Wylde Flang is a violinist with a clear tone, delicate and beautiful weak notes, and a unique deep vibrato. Her clear, straightforward approach and the Berliner Philharmoniker's superb control bring new life to Mendelssohn's masterpieces. As an encore, Vilde Flang will perform "Veslefrik" from "Fairy Tale Suite," a work influenced by Norwegian folk music and folk tales by 20th century Norwegian composer Bjarne Brøstad, which she loves. As a viola player, Bjarne was a member of the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra for 19 years and is highly regarded for his dedication to the development of Norwegian music after World War II. The second half is Beethoven's "Hero. As in the recent concert in Japan and the complete works released simultaneously on the Berliner Philharmoniker Recordings label, the orchestra was left to its own devices, freely varying tempo and intensity, while skillfully depicting the thick low register and expressive melodic lines.
