To celebrate Steve Reich's 75th birthday on October 3, 2011, we are releasing the documentary film (3058128/KKC9027), which was previously available on DVD, on Blu-ray. Steve Reich is the charismatic figure of minimal music. Reich's music, which is passionately supported not only by classical music fans but also by artists of other genres, has a firm conviction and direction, and one can find the pure beauty of the music.The DVD, titled "Phase to Face," follows Reich on his world tour, beginning with the 2007 Le Havre Music Festival, followed by a live performance in Rome in 2008, a sold-out concert at Tokyo Opera City in 2008, his first visit to Japan in 11 years, New York in 2009, and the world premiere of his new work, "2 x 5," at the Manchester International Festival in July 2009. The film closely follows Reich on his world tour, including the world premiere of his new work "2 × 5" at the Manchester International Festival in July 2009, and focuses on his unique musical style. Also in 2009, "Double Sextet" won the Pulitzer Prize for Music. The film includes footage of Reich receiving the news of the award by phone and talking about his mentor Berio, as well as Bach and Stravinsky, and his influences as a teenager, Miles Davis and John Coltrane.
