The debut album of the "Berlin Academy of American Music", formed in the midst of the pandemic! The debut album of the "Berlin Academy of American Music", formed in the midst of the pandemic, features the Israeli operatic soprano Hen Reiss (Chen Reiss), who has made headlines with her performance of R. Strauss' "Der Rosenkavalier" (Sophie) at the Bavarian State Opera and the soundtrack to the film "Parfum" by Rattle and the Berlin Philharmonic, as well as her performance in the 2020 Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival's "Leonard". Greek flutist Statis Karapanos, winner of the Holstein Festival's "Leonard Bernstein Prize"! This beautifully curated album depicts the two-way musical relationship across the Atlantic and reflects the appeal of the United States to composers of many nationalities.Like many European musicians, Stravinsky became an American citizen after fleeing war and persecution; Avner Dolman, an Israeli composer living in the United States; Toru Takemitsu, whose music expresses the American writer Melville's masterpiece "White Whale"; Bernstein's assistant and pupil, Craig Bernstein's assistant and pupil Craig Urquhart, and Copland, whose "Appalachian Spring" expresses "the sound of a grand American landscape.
