He studied piano and harpsichord at the Conservatory of San Pietro a Maiella, and later studied composition. In addition to composing, he has worked with numerous opera theaters and orchestras, and each of his four symphonic frames is a pictorial work depicting the history of Naples, its historical monuments, and scenic spots.The melody of "Funiculi Funiculi" is used in the fourth piece. 2. is a medley of Fauré's songs. The orchestration makes the songs more dynamic, and Pollese's voice comes alive; 3. is an ensemble version of Debussy's masterpiece with saxophone; 4. is a duet of soprano vocalise and saxophone; and 5. is a duet of soprano vocalise and saxophone. Each arrangement is richly conceived and interesting in that it gives the impression of hearing the piece for the first time, even though it is a piece you know. (Tobu Shoji)
