Lucas Macias Navarro & Camerata RCO, Mahler No. 4 Small Orchestra Version! He was also invited by Claudio Abbado to be the principal oboist of the Lucerne Festival Orchestra and the Mozart Orchestra (Bologna), which Abbado founded. After leaving the RCO in 2017, he conducted the Camerata RCO, which consists of members of the RCO, in a chamber ensemble version of Mahler's Symphony No. 4. The chamber ensemble version was arranged by his student and friend Erwin Stein at the request of Schoenberg, who wanted to perform the work at the private performance society he presided over. The ensemble consists of 12 members, one for each part of strings and woodwinds, plus piano and accordion, without any brass instruments, and the chamber-like sound is a perfect match for the heavenly beauty of this work.The soprano soloist is Judith van van Rooy, a Dutch soprano with a wide concert repertoire and experience with the RCO.
