Kurtag's ongoing collection of compositions "Play" for piano Emaar releases a two-disc set including the latest world premiere recording Pierre-Laurent Emaard, one of the finest pianists of our time, has made a recording of Gergi Kurtag's "Play Jatekok" for piano in the presence of the composer. Jatekok" is a collection of piano pieces that he began composing in 1973 and continues to this day. 2021 sees the publication of Book X. (Volume 10), of which Book IV. is a collection of works for two pianos or four hands. Although many of the pieces are simple, Kurtag's compositions are adventurous and avant-garde, and he also uses special techniques such as the palm and elbow to stimulate the spontaneity and creativity of children learning to play the piano, The content stimulates the spontaneity and creativity of children learning to play the piano. Currently, the composition of Book XI. (Volume 11) is in progress. Book XI. is a toy box of short pieces that resemble Kurtag's own letters and diaries.This recording also includes the world premiere recording of 10 drafts from Volume 11. This is a remarkable release, made in the presence of Kurtag under ideal recording conditions. The booklet includes many color photographs of the recording. Emmerle, who conceived of a program that connected the Corona Disaster, Bach's "Play" with Kurtag's "Play" and Schubert's "Dance" with Kurtag's "Play" like a story, performed this program at the Sogakudo of the Tokyo University of the Arts as a special concert for young people during his visit to Japan in 2023. Emaar, who is fascinated by Kurtag's music and considers it his main repertoire, is performing the music he wants to deliver to the audience now with all his might. The future of this ongoing collection of piano pieces will be closely watched. Kurtag's music has been a part of my musical life for almost half a century, and it is a breath of fresh air and one of my principles. I first became acquainted with Kurtag in the winter of 1978. After that, I visited him at his home in Budapest, but at first he and I were silent... To change the atmosphere, he invited me to the piano. I had the score of "Play" for piano, and we played four hands together.Since then I have been captivated by Kurtag's work. I will continue to play this vast collection of small pieces throughout my life. PENTATONE
