Bass-baritone Placetka, a regular at the MET and the Salzburg Festival, performs opera arias by Mozart and Salieri! Bass-baritone Adam Placetka makes his debut on the PENTATONE label! Together with the early music ensemble Czech Ensemble Baroque, founded by Roman Válek in 1998, he is releasing the album “MOLIERI” (Mozart + Salieri = MOLIERI), featuring opera arias by Mozart and Salieri. Antonio Salieri (1750–1825) rose to worldwide fame thanks to the film *Amadeus*. Amid various anecdotes surrounding him, this album brings the two composers together, featuring Mozart’s *The Marriage of Figaro*, *Don Giovanni*, and *Cosi fan tutte*, with arias from Salieri’s *Falstaff*, *Aksur, King of Ormuz*, *The Cave of Trofonio*, and *The School of Jealousy*, creating a structure that offers a fresh perspective on the music. Listening to this performance will reveal why Salieri achieved such success and why great composers such as Beethoven, Schubert, and Liszt all sought to study under him. Adam Pračetka studied in Prague and won first prize at the Dvořák International Vocal Competition. He joined the Vienna State Opera in September 2010, making his debut as Schaunard in *La Bohème*. He subsequently released his solo debut album, a collection of Handel oratorio arias (recorded in August and September 2012) (SU-4116), in collaboration with the Czech Baroque Ensemble under the baton of Válek. In recent years, he has been a regular at the MET and the Salzburg Festival, garnering attention as a versatile singer—particularly in Mozart’s works—capable of mastering not only dramatic roles but also comedic ones.
