Based in Lyon, France, THESCANERS is a sci-fi synth-punk quartet consisting of PIERRESCANERS on vocals and keyboards, PIERRICKSCANERS on drums, DEDESCANERS on guitar and theremin, and THEOSCANERS on bass. On their 2018 debut album *THESCANERS* and 2019 follow-up *THESCANERS II*, they clashed the raw energy of garage rock with the cold, electronic sounds of new wave; on their 2024 third album *III*, they introduced the gloomy atmosphere of post-punk and disco beats, garnering a fervent cult following in the European underground scene. Their sound—a fusion of B-movie sci-fi aesthetics centered on space and UFOs with the uncontrollable energy of punk—has brought a new frenzy to the contemporary garage scene. Released in 2026, approximately two years after their previous album, this work feels like unraveling a secret map hidden behind the scenes of their career. This 17-track archive collection includes B-sides from long-unavailable 7-inch singles, tracks contributed to compilations, alternate versions of their signature songs, and unreleased demos, as well as a powerful cover of a classic song by THEFALL and two completely new tracks. Far from being a mere collection of odds and ends, as indicated by the artwork—a circular reinterpretation of Morse code—each track resonates with its original release format while collectively tracing the trajectory of a single, massive spaceship. It meticulously documents their evolution from their early raw impulses to the present day, vividly portraying the full scope of their sci-fi frenzy. "ABYSSALLOVE," where raw fuzz guitars and electronic sounds clash fiercely; "SPARTAFC," which deconstructs THEFALL’s original track with a unique New Wave interpretation; "SATELLITERAIN (DEMO)," where the raw recording environment directly conveys the band’s early impulses; and “NIVEAUZERO,” where pop-infused electronic sounds and an ominous bassline lure the listener into another dimension—these 17 tracks explode with an ensemble brimming with unpredictable sci-fi frenzy. The entire album is permeated not only by a comprehensive overview of their musical journey to date but also by an overwhelming intensity and sense of speed that seem to carry the listener away to the far reaches of an unseen galaxy. By compiling hard-to-find recordings and unreleased demos into a single physical format, this album vividly documents the unique evolutionary journey of the synth-punk sound they have cultivated.
