This is a well-known collection of compositions and arrangements by Johann de Mey. The most notable is the title piece, "Ektream Beethoven". This piece was composed for the 1st division of the World Music Competition (WMC) 2013. It is the second piece written on the subject of Beethoven, following "Extreme Makeover," which was written on the subject of Tchaikovsky. The piece opens with the theme from "Piano Concerto No. 5 'The Emperor', 2nd movement," quietly sung by the composer, followed by Beethoven's nine symphonies, Egmont Overture, Piano Sonata Moonlight, For Elise, Turkish March, and many other famous pieces. The occasional movement of the oboe and clarinet gives a sense of an orchestra, and the variety of sounds that are produced one after another are unique to Johan de Mey. The brass band version of the euphonium concerto "Euphonium Concerto" is also included.The rich, soft euphonium music and superb technique of soloist David Childs and the band's ability to match it with breath brings out even more excellence in the music. The album also includes seven other works, including "Sinfonietta No. 1," de Mey's first small symphony, and "Holopo," written based on traditional Venezuelan music. The Larin Symphonic Band, which has released three wind band works on the World Wind Music label, all of which have received favorable reviews, performs perfectly.
