Nederlands Saxofoon Octet
Description:
Canto Ostinato's latest work for saxophone octet is now available! Simeon ten Holt (1923-2012) is one of the leading composers of contemporary Dutch music and one of the world's leading minimalists. Simeon ten Holt's epic work "Canto Ostinato" has steadily gained a following thanks to the revival of the legendary masterpiece (2-piano version/KTC 1367), which sold over 15,000 copies in the Netherlands, the composer's home country. Originally, "Canto Ostinato" had a high degree of freedom and has been performed and recorded by various orchestras around the world, but now, Cobra Records of the Netherlands has released a recording of the saxophone octet version. Of course, this is the world premiere recording. The Nederlands Saxophone Octet (NederlandsSaxofoon Octet/NS8) was formed in Amsterdam in 2014 by a group of young saxophonists who recently graduated and adapt to a wide range of music from chamber music to symphonic saxophone arrangements, and even contemporary music The group works as a saxophone octet." The "106" section, in which the "canto" (song) is played "ostinato" (repeated) and uninterrupted. The saxophone octet version was arranged mainly by Dutch saxophonist Stegan de Weijs and completed together with NS8 through repeated rehearsals, and is said to sound completely different from the "four piano version. The saxophone version of "Canto Ostinato," which has been attracting attention in the Japanese new age and contemporary music world for its soothing minimalist sound, is a must-see not only for new age fans but also for those involved in wind instruments.
