This piece by Belgian pianist Nicolas Kende traces the artistic ties between Brahms and Schumann, two masters of 19th century Romanticism. Included in this album are the Piano Sonata No. 2, in which the 19-year-old Brahms showed his precocious talent, and Schumann's Fantasy, which he wrote out of love for Clara and respect for Beethoven. Although written at different moments in their lives, both works embody the Romantic spirit of "expressing inner truth. This program is a resonant blend of passion and poetic sentiment, centered on the bond and artistic inheritance between these two masters and disciples. Kende's poetic touch and sincere musicianship, described as "like a poet at every fingertip" (Le Progres), vividly portray the constructed beauty of Brahms and the inner lyricism of Schumann. She has performed with the Brussels Philharmonic, the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra, and the Romanian National Radio Symphony Orchestra, and has appeared in major halls and music festivals throughout Europe.In 2009, he made his U.S. debut with Brahms' "Piano Concerto No. 1" and was acclaimed as "like a young Brahms playing the piano.
