This is a collection of harpsichord & virginal works set in Antwerp in the mid-17th century, when the Luccaas family created many famous instruments and the city became the "City of Harpsichords. The Portuguese singer Francisca Duarte (1595-1640), who was a court singer in the Spanish Netherland at that time, played many Lukkers-Couchet harpsichords and virginals owned by the Duarte family, and frequently played with her father Gaspar, a luthier, and her sister Leonora, a singer. In this album, Mario Serraccia, an old-time keyboardist who regularly played and recorded with Quicken's La Petite Band, uses a variety of rare instruments to recreate private concerts that would have taken place in the Duarte household at that time, including works from old manuscripts compiled for the Duarte family.
