Masumi Nagasawa, a leading Japanese harpist and beloved student of world-renowned period harpist Mara Garassi, launches her new series, “Music of the Classical Era”! Kicking off the series, “Vol. 1” features the music of the great Bohemian Classical-era composer Jan Ladislav Dušek (Dussek, 1760–1812) and his wife, Sofia Justina Dussek-Coll (1775–1831)! Although highly regarded by Catherine II of Russia and Marie Antoinette of France, Dussek was unable to remain in either country due to political intrigue and the French Revolution. His relationship with his wife, Colli—whom he met and married in London—remained strained, and when the company he co-founded with his father-in-law went bankrupt, he abandoned his family and fled to Germany. Despite his musical talent, his life was filled with dramatic ups and downs.
