Born in Basel, Switzerland in 1974, Djimon Gaudenz gained much recognition as Principal Guest Conductor of the Odense Symphony Orchestra in Denmark from 2010 to 2013, and in 2018 he became General Music Director of the Jena Philharmonic, where he has also received great acclaim for raising the orchestra's standards significantly. He has also been highly acclaimed for raising the standard of the orchestra. The orchestra's fine ensemble and eloquent music are superb, and Gaudenz uses it to play Mahler with clarity, softness, transparency, and warmth. Gaudenz's Mahler is truly the most advanced Mahler of the 2020s.Once again, the Jena Philharmonic will perform a work by composer-in-residence Andrea Lorenzo Scartazzini (1971-) before Mahler's symphony. The "Spirit" is connected to Symphony No. 3 and is performed as such.
