DJ Haram, an electronic musician known for his work as a solo artist and with 700 Bliss, teams up with Bay Area-based rapper ShaRay. Their bold collaborative album, *CriticalThot*, a collaboration between an acclaimed producer and a rising talent, is released via Backwoods Studios. *CriticalThot* is a bold collaborative album by Bay Area-based rapper/producer ShaRay and producer/electronic musician DJ Haram. Haram is a member of the duo 700Bliss with rapper/poet MoorMother and has released numerous solo albums, including the critically acclaimed *Beside Myself* (Hyperdub) in 2025. He has also collaborated with notable artists such as BbyMutha, FeverRay, Ghais Guevara, and Armand Hammer. Meanwhile, while *CriticalThot* marks ShaRay’s official debut album, she has already garnered significant acclaim as a rising talent. Haram first noticed ShaRay’s talent after seeing her perform at a show in Brooklyn in 2022. A joint performance by Armand Hammer and DJ Haram in Los Angeles served as the catalyst for their meeting. This led to a cross-state collaboration between the two, which ultimately resulted in the album *CriticalThot*. The entire album was produced remotely. Haram created beats in Brooklyn and sent them to ShaRay, who then sent back demos and feedback. The lyrics are sharp and refreshingly direct. ShaRay fearlessly tackled DJ Haram’s complex tracks, immediately proving her unique talent. Haram utilizes a wide range of beats, from experimental and stimulating to smooth and fun, and even dark and ominous. *CriticalThot* features guest appearances by NappyNina, JWords, and Archangel.
