He was making rapid strides in the jazz scene, and was in a position of no match for the competition. In the midst of a series of European tours in 1959, Rollins suddenly disappeared from the jazz scene for two years. This is what is commonly referred to as "going into hiding under a cloud. This 3-CD set follows Rollins on his European tour in March of 1959, just before his "disappearance under a cloud. It is a compilation of all currently available tour recordings. The recordings from Sweden are the official ones released by DRAGON Records, but those from other countries are only available on home-made labels.While the release of each of the individual recordings is valuable, the attempt to focus on the entire tour just before "Kumogakure" and to capture the psychological transition is interesting in itself. What did the star of the jazz scene, who had been soaring through the ranks at a breakneck pace, feel on his last tour before "Kumogakure" and how did he come to leave the scene? This is a valuable record in terms of understanding his state of mind. Four songs, "A Weaver of Dreams," "Lady Bird," "Cocktails for Two," and "Stay as Sweet as You Are," are the only recordings of Rollins performing these songs.
