The 1985 recording of "Lully & Corelli" by Savard and his splendid band! Another masterpiece in our series of reissues of Astoré recordings: Couperin's "Lully & Corelli Praise," recorded in 1985! In "In Praise of Corelli," Corelli is led to Mount Parnassus, where the god of music resides, and in "In Praise of Lully," Lully follows Corelli to Mount Parnassus, where he meets and performs with Corelli. This is a work filled with the ideals of F. Coupland, who at a time when he was torn between traditional French taste and the new and fascinating Italian taste, was committed to the fusion of the two. The performance will be given by Monika Haggett, who founded the Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra with Copeman in 1980 and served as concert mistress until 1987. Banchini, who has performed with the Kuijken brothers, Leonhardt, Arnoncourt, and others, founded Ensemble 415 in 1981. Ton Koopman, who has made many famous recordings with Savard.Hopkinson Smith, who was a member of Esperion XX with Savard, is a player who was active at the forefront of the music scene at that time (and beyond).
