A new-generation early music artist joining Glossa, following in the footsteps of Fami Alkai, Joséchu Obregón, and Sebastián Delan. Enrique Solinis, a Baroque guitarist born in the Basque region of northern Spain, makes his Glossa debut! Solinis, who taught himself to play the guitar and has won numerous international competitions, is active as a leading figure in Spain’s new era of early music. He leads the Basque (Euscal) Baroque Ensemble, of which he is the founder and director. Bringing together the cream of Spain’s early music scene—including Joséchu Obregón and Vicente Parilla, a member of Alcaí’s ensemble “Accademia del Piacere”—they deliver truly vibrant performances. The first release in the Glossa series, produced by Fami Alcaí, is a collection of Baroque dance pieces for guitar titled “Colores del Sur” (Colors of the South). Centered on the Spanish composer Gaspar Sanz, the collection features traditional Spanish and Italian Baroque dance pieces by composers such as the Italian Domenico Scarlatti and Giovanni Girolamo Capsperger—including marionas, canarios, cumbes, hacaras, fandangos, and passacaglias—are presented with virtuosic technique, creative freedom, and a 21st-century global interpretation.
