Laila Shayek, a female violinist of the new generation of ancient music, is the successor to Chiara Banchini. It has been five years since she performed Bach's Violin Sonatas with Jörg Halbeck. Finally, the complete set of the sacred "Sonatas & Partitas for Solo Violin" has been recorded! Studied with Chiara Banchini at the Schola Cantorum Basel (SCB), Switzerland's premier center for ancient music, and since 2010 has been teaching baroque violin at the SCB herself. Laila Shayek is a violinist of the new generation of classical music, who has made her presence felt in various concerts and recordings as a member of Chiara Banchini's Ensemble 415, La Risonanza, Concerto Cologne, and others. She has produced brilliant albums of Leclerc, Brahms, and Vivaldi, and this is her eighth Glossa recording. She finally recorded Bach's Sonatas and Partitas for Solo Violin (BWV.1001-1006), monumental works that are eternal challenges and sacred texts for all violinists, professional and amateur alike.In 2015, she recorded Bach's Violin Sonatas (BWV.1014-1019) "with accompaniment" with Jörg Halbeck, and was named "Editor's Choice" by Gramophone (UK) and "Diapason d'Or Annual Award (Old Music)" by Diapason (France).
