He is Filippo Minecchia, a countertenor from Florence, Italy. Minecchia’s latest album, *Il castrato del granduca*, compiles numerous arias composed for his great Florentine predecessor, the castrato Gaetano Berenschott, tracing the musical legacy of Berenschott. Belenschadt served the Medici family and the Grand Dukes of Tuscany throughout his life, performing at all of Italy’s major opera houses as well as in London. Composers such as Handel, Ariosti, Bononcini, Gasparini, Hasse, Salo, and Vinci—all highly praised his singing and acting skills and composed numerous arias specifically for him. Tokyo M-Plus
